520 Snatch Grip Deadlift PR — Fasted, No Pre-Workout, Already Fatigued

2026-07-20520 Snatch Grip Deadlift (PR)

Full session on video: 110×11 Dumbbell Push Press PR + Snatch Grip Deadlift (355, 390)

Not exactly ideal conditions going into this session: no food at all beforehand (training started around 7pm, fully fasted), a 4-5 mile walk at the park earlier in the day, no pre-workout, and calves and hamstrings still fatigued from a stiff-leg snatch grip deadlift PR just two days prior. None of that stopped two real PRs from happening.

Dumbbell push press: 110×11 (PR)

Two sets at 110 pounds — 10 reps, then 11 reps for the PR. Both on video.

Snatch grip deadlift build-up: 355, then 390

Two more sets on video — singles at 355 and 390, building toward the day's actual top set.

Snatch grip deadlift: 520 (PR)

The actual PR, up from the 475 logged previously — but it happened after filming had already stopped. By the time this set came around, filming wasn't the priority anymore.

Why the conditions matter

Both PRs happened under conditions that would usually predict a worse session, not a better one: fasted, no stimulant, pre-fatigued legs, hours of walking already logged beforehand. Worth remembering the next time a session feels like it's starting from a deficit — the deficit doesn't automatically cap what's actually possible that day.

Context: an active cut

Training and walking more right now specifically to bring bodyweight down from around 270-275 to a target of 240-250. The fasted training and extra walking this session are part of that effort, not incidental to it.
